Ace of Pentacles Tarot Card Meanings

(The above image is a copy of The Ace of Pentacles card in a standard Rider-Waite Tarot deck. The 5 symbols pointed out above are explained below.)

Card Description

The Ace of Pentacles magically appears to the reader in a cloud of smoke, ready to be taken any anyone who wants it. If taken, the reader will walk through the garden gate and begin their path to enlightenment on the blue mountain road. While the other minor arcana suits focused on different aspects of the psyche, The pentacle suit, focuses on the material world, our bodies, our finances, our needs.

Point 1 – HAND

Out of a cloud of smoke, a hand offers the pentacle to the reader. This reveals that that the pentacle suit, like the others, is a gift waiting to be taken by you. Like other aces, the Ace of Pentacles is pure potential energy.

Point 2 – PENTACLE

The pentacle is the earth suit and represents our physical possessions, whether that be financial or our own bodies. Illustrating the pentagram, the pentacle has its roots in pagan magic. The 5-pointed star is the quintessence of the reader.

Point 3 – LANDSCAPE

The landscape below the pentacle is fertile farmland, further cementing the suit as the earth elemental of the minor arcana. This landscape is a place of growth and abundance. Similarly, the pentacle is a celebration of what we have reaped.

Point 4 – GARDEN GATE

In the background there is a garden gate. This symbolizes the entrance to new realms of being. As the reader begins their journey on the road to enlightenment through the minor arcana, they too pass through a spiritual gate.

Point 5 – MOUNTAINS THROUGH THE GATE

Through the gate there rises a range of blue mountains. This is a direct callback to The Fool card. They are a representation of the spiritual journey the reader goes on during their Tarot read. They reiterate that through the garden gate is the path to enlightenment.

Tarot Reading

Upright

An Upright Ace of Pentacles illustrate the pure potential for material gains. These material gains could be financial wealth or bodily health. An Upright Ace of Pentacles encourages you to pursue your goals because the material world will support you. Perhaps you want to train for a marathon or invest in a start-up business. An Ace of Pentacles is a green light for those ambitions.

Reverse

A Reverse Ace of Pentacles suggest that there is an anxiety about material things. Perhaps you are facing financial insecurity or experiencing health problems. A Reverse Ace of Pentacles encourages you to tackle those obstacles so that you can manifest the pure potential energy that comes with the Ace card.
